MuzikDizcovery Exclusive: Winter Dust - Autumn Years Album Stream
So if you haven't noticed recently, we love Winter Dust. Between our very well received premier of "Early Grey Mornings" to our recent A level review of Autumn Years, it's clear that we think that Winter Dust is one of the best young bands making music right now. So there were no second thoughts when we found out we had the opportunity to premier this fantastic album. The album brings together so many parts of bands I love such as Gates, Caspian and Athletics, and it really is something special. From the instrumental beauty of songs like "Undertow" to immense emotional releases in "Early Grey Mornings," Winter Dust is a band that knows how to tug at the heartstrings. If you haven't already, also be sure to like their Facebook page for more information. The album is now available for free download, but if you aren't already convinced, be sure to stream it below.

MuzikDizcovery Exclusive: Winter Dust, "Early Grey Mornings"
Fans of emo post-rock take note: Italian band Winter Dust's upcoming Autumn Years is one of the best releases of the year, blending hook-heavy songwriting with gruff rock vocals and gritty, gorgeous instrumentation, and we at MuzikDizcovery are delighted to debut an exclusive stream of "Early Grey Mornings" before the album's upcoming December 5 release. The song starts off slow, laying melancholy guitar melodies over chugging percussion and shrouding everything in a layer of early morning fog, but things soon get turbulent. As the track builds, Marco Vezzaro throws in some gnarly screams and the bass gains prominence. When the measured tempo gives way for a climax in double-time, the drums, piano and guitar crashing out of the 5AM gloom in waves, it's a bucket of ice water to the face, and it's thanks to the track's masterful construction that the catharsis comes naturally.

MuzikDizcovery Exclusive: Echo Base - "Never Tell Me The Odds"
We're very excited today to be premiering the penultimate track from Floridian emo duo Echo Base's forthcoming full length album Some Legacy. "Never Tell Me The Odds" allows the pair the opportunity to shred with their respective instruments, showcasing both guitarist Spencer Wills's ability to twinkle hard and drummer Miguel Vasquez's upbeat and driving rhythms. Both members take the reins on vocal duties, shifting from one to the other seamlessly and even layering their shouts onto each other. Send Away Stranger vocalist Will Linscott joins the track for a guest verse that stands as the calm between the two more intense segments of the track. Echo Base allows their homestate buddy to shine, giving him the spotlight over top the more subdued instrumental before bursting back and taking back their own track. It's a song that should be a staple of the band's live sets for years to come as well as a strong introduction to the band as a whole. Some Legacy is out September 3rd, and you can stream two other tracks and preorder the album on Bandcamp. All proceeds from Bandcamp purchases will go towards getting the album pressed on vinyl. Be sure to also follow the band on Facebook, as all news having to do with the band will be posted there.

MuzikDizcovery Exclusive: Places To Hide - "Ecotone" Stream
We at Muzik Dizcovery are pleased to present an exclusive
premier of “Ecotone,” the final track off of Atlanta band Places to Hide’s new
record Almost Nothing. Over a hyperkinetic
(not to mention tied-up-tight) whirlwind of slick melody and barchord slashing,
vocalist Kyle Swick narrates with surprising swagger and wit the story of
dreary a Sunday afternoon sucked so clean of energy and motion it could only be
represented sonically at bullet train speeds. Swick’s delivery is cut
fantastically with a kind of stage-actor’s malaise — we feel his pain, but it
doesn’t feel like he’s complaining. Then, after a subtle slow build you’ll
hardly notice, somebody steps on the fuzz pedal and sends the song pulsing with
temple-to-temple punch-in-the-gut fuzz, and boy does it get me every time.
Hello Husker Du? The song is a hit. Well, I guess not really until you guys
have heard it, so get listening! Check it out below. If you dig the track, make sure to see the band on tour (dates after the jump) or order the album on LP (soon to be released on Irrelevant Recordings) or CD (through Out of This Records). Stream some other tracks on Bandcamp.

Muzikdizcovery Exclusive First Listen: Ex Friends - Model Minority
Though 2012 is drawing to a close, there’s still no shortage of great music being released even at this junction point between years, and we at Muzikdizcovery have the privilege of streaming some of that great music right now. “Model Minority” is a blistering one-and-a-half minute onslaught of punk goodness, and there’s really not all that much more that anyone could want from a straight punk song like this. The guitars wail, the drums pound furiously, and one can hear the phlegm rattling around in lead singer Joel Tannenbaum’s throat as he growls about the pains of being seen and judged as a member of a certain ethnicity instead of as a complex, three-dimensional human being. It hits the nail on the head as far as songwriting goes - you can appreciate it at the surface level and have a good time headbanging, you can read deeply into it and realize the importance of Ex Friends’ message, or you can do both at the same time. Twisted Around, Ex Friends' newest EP, comes out January 29th, and this song whets the appetite well.
We're incredibly grateful to the band, Yo Yo Records, and Beartrap PR for allowing us to stream the full song exclusively on MuzikDizcovery. Have a listen below.

Exclusive Stream: Fero Lux / Courtships
Hardcore is one of the most promising genres of modern music. It seems that with each passing year, there are more and more promising groups in the genre, coming out of the woodwork to show what they have to offer. These groups also have an unspoken brotherhood from time to time, with certain niches sticking together and even collaborating to create something special. One such example is the duo Fero Lux from South Florida, teaming up with Virginia natives Courtships.
Both groups burst onto the hardcore scene in this past year, too. Courtships are still widely praised for their debut album The Feral Sound..., an ambitious attack on hardcore as we know it. And Fero Lux came about shortly after, their debut Some Divine Ashtray, an amalgam of equally thrilling styles. The record worked remarkably well at the end of the day, and featured some brilliant lyrics to boot. So here we are at the end of 2012, on the eve of Fero Lux / Courtships - a split furthering the groups' reach, and offering some of their most powerful tracks yet.
We at MuzikDizcovery have had the privilege of receiving the split before its spring release, and we even have an opportunity to share it with all of you. Check it out, send it to your friends, and enjoy this release as much as I have.
MuzikDizcovery is pleased to introduce the split between hardcore groups Fero Lux and Courtships, exclusively streaming here!
Tracklist:
Fero Lux
1. The Devil (Hooah!)
2. Say It like Pacino
Courtships
3. Dead Pilots
4. DOA
5. Japam

Artist Of The Day: Again For The Win
Again, For The Win last released an album in 2010, and they have come far since then. Their latest single, "The Legend Of" (exclusively premiered here on MuzikDizcovery), showcased a poppier side of the band, but that definitely does not reflect on the rest of the album. Electronics are much more widely used than before, as well as shoegazey guitar, but the band's 90's emo influenced aggressive indie rock is still prominent throughout the album. The band experiments much more than they did on Bonus Deluxe Edition, as many songs sound nothing like any Again, For The Win material released until now. "Breaking & Entering," "Having Heard Sirens," and "Architects" are the immediate standouts, but the entire record is fantastic.

MuzikDizcovery Exclusive: Take One Car - Brim + MuzikDizcovery Recreation
We at MuzikDizcovery are extremely happy at premier a brand new song by Take One Car. "Brim" is the fourth track off their upcoming record It's Going To Be A Nice Day, out February 21st. Unlike first single "Ronnie", "Brim" shows a heavier and more atmospheric part of Take One Car, which is probably the style that the band does best.
We also have a MuzikDizcovery Recreation of the same song! The band strips down with acoustic guitars, bells, shakers, and more to highlight a side of the band that we don't normally see. While the recreation is as far from the original song as can be, the band pulls it off amazingly, displaying even more the immense talent that the band possesses. You can listen to the original track and watch the recreation below, and post your thoughts in the comments on the song, as well as which version you prefer.
Listen to "Ronnie" on the band's Bandcamp, and "like" their Facebook for updates on when a full stream of the album may happen.

MuzikDizcovery Exclusive: Again, For The Win "The Legend Of" Stream
Again, For The Win should be one of the prides of Austin, Texas. Combining the sound of 90's emo, piano rock, and punk, their unique sound has brought them plenty of acclaim from those lucky enough to have heard of them. First album Bonus Deluxe Edition has been up for free download on their Bandcamp page, and it is an excellent introduction to Carter Francis' powerful vocals and the rest of the band's immense musical talent. The band has been preparing to record a brand new eleven track album, out early 2012, and decided to release one teaser track beforehand. Synths and backing vocals are just a few of the new tricks that Again, For The Win has brought to the table with this track, the first recorded with a new lineup. "The Legend Of" will be reconstructed and put on the new album, but the current version can be exclusively streamed below.

MuzikDizcovery Exclusive: These Branches "Purist" Stream
New Jersey's These Branches aren't big on equivocation. The Payoff, their most recent release on DIY label Kat Kat records, doesn't exactly leave a lot of (if any) space for it. Less than a dozen minutes are burned as the duo utilize their blitzkrieg approach to blast through four punch-packing tracks of raw, unfiltered punk rock. Band members Nick Hertzberg and Bryan Batiste make full use of each and every breath let loose on The Payoff, effectively voicing their discontent on anything from sleazy band promotors and manipulative friends to the uncompromising expectations of society. It's made quite clear that the system just isn't working for them, and the release marks the twosome's most recent effort to alter that fact. But something bigger than disappointment lies beneath these tracks. As the grievances regarding a disillusioned industry and failed relationships are sequentially aired, it's obvious that these two are absolutely loving their roles as condemners. With every ounce of dissatisfaction on the EP comes an equitable amount of pure satisfaction - the sort of gratification that goes hand in hand with being unequivocally in love with what you do every day. And that's exactly what Hertzberg and Batiste are doing with their time here. For these dudes, every waking moment is an opportunity to make music with friends, and the attitude on The Payoff shows this. They've paid their dues to an oppressive society. The Payoff is the sound of those dues paying back.Stream track 'Purist' from the new EP exclusively here on MuzikDizcovery, and look out for the full stream on their bandcamp, as well as pre-orders for the 7-inch via Kat Kat in the very near future.

MuzikDizcovery Exclusive: StumbleDrunk "Still Wasted" Stream
StumbleDrunk may not be a familiar name for those on MuzikDizcovery, but one listen to new track "Still Wasted" and you may recognize the voice. StumbleDrunk vocalist Carter Francis also sings for Again, For The Win, a band that we at MuzikDizcovery have endlessly hyped since our first listen. StumbleDrunk shows Francis' punkier side, joining brother Tucker, Again, For The Win band mate Wayne Zingery, and friends Josh Massey and Derek Pope to make an aggressive, hard hitting band featuring vicious drumming, plenty of distorted guitar riffs and solos, and Francis' customary emotionally powerful vocals. "Still Wasted" is the first track off the band's upcoming EP Collusion, which you will be able to download for free on September 9th via Posters On Walls Records. You can stream "Still Wasted" below, and you can only hear it here at MuzikDizcovery! Stream the band's other releases, including the title track off the upcoming EP right here.

Update (8/23, 9:03 PM): "Forfeit" has been taken down. Look forward to a new song streaming on The Offseason's page tomorrow!
Today, we are pleased to exclusively premier a bunch of exciting information about one of our favorites upcoming pop-punk acts, The Offseason. You may know them from Dizcovering Muzik: Volume One or from a feature we've done on them before. If you are a fan of the new wave of pop-punk, including Fireworks and The Swellers, then The Offseason will become a staple in your playlists. Below, you can stream their brand new song "Forfeit", which is off the band's upcoming full length Pride and Progress / Goin' For Broke, out October 11th via Barrett Records. This full length combines their previous EP Goin' For Broke with four all new songs, including "Forfeit". "Forfeit" shows a punkier side to The Offseason, as the band pummels through the track in 1:43, half as long as any other The Offseason track to date. Are the other three new songs going to follow this more aggressive feeling, or will the other songs go back to the band's poppier side? What do you think of "Forfeit"? "Forfeit" will be streaming here until 9 PM tomorrow night, when it will be put on to the band's official page. We will also be premiering a new song here on Wednesday.
