By the luck of the shuffle setting on my iTunes, I have recently rekindled the love for the band that used to be my absolute favorite. In 2008, right around when I was just getting into music below the mainstream and before I started this website, I fell in love with a little band called There For Tomorrow. The band's debut single "Pages," was everything I wanted in music at that point — vocalist Maika Maile's voice was powerful, but able to hit a wide range of notes, the instrumentals had the perfect blend of atmosphere and aggression and the hook was enormous. In a time where I was still needing more accessible music, There For Tomorrow allowed me to feel both progressive and underground while catering to my current musical needs.

Album Review: There For Tomorrow - The Verge
There For Tomorrow has always been a band lumped in with the wrong category of acts. Touring with bands such as We The Kings, Mayday Parade, Every Avenue, and All Time Low may have scared of some of the band's more suitable potential fans, as There For Tomorrow never fit within the genre of that group of bands. On the band's Hopeless Records debut self titled EP and LP A Little Faster, the band showed a knack for crafting contagious hooks while surrounding them with powerful, crushing guitar riffs and lead singer Maika Maile's outstanding vocals. With The Verge, the band attempts to break out of their pop-rock image, drastically improving the instrumentals and musicianship, while Maika's vocals improve from excellent to unbelievable. But something seems missing in The Verge, as the charm and appeal of the band's past work seems to have disappeared.

There For Tomorrow Stream New Track
There For Tomorrow has always had a special place in my heart. From absolutely adoring Pages, to writing my first atrocious review on their debut album, to seeing them open at one of the best concerts I've ever been at, I really don't think I'll ever grow out of them like I have of many of my other old favorites. The band shows a lot of musical growth in their latest track "Hunt Hunt Hunt", due to be released on their upcoming finished full length. The bass stands out more than any other song the band has ever released, and the multiple guitar parts complement each other very well, with the higher, more ambient part a perfect addition to the band's style. And of course, Maika's vocals are spot on as always. The fact that the song is damn catchy is just a bonus. You can stream the song on the band's Facebook page here.
